Manhattan is the main area of New York, the first city in the US. This area is at the forefront of the economic centers in the monde.Il has an important role in world politics. Moreover, it represents a cultural and social center developed.

The most important economic sector is the finance. Manhattan has the largest global exchange eg the New York Stock Exchange is more commonly known as Wall Street (photo) the name of the street where it is located.

  Moreover, Midtown includes a large number of economic activities of the bank headquarters, shopping centers, including seven of the eight largest advertising agencies in the world. New York is also the first US concentration of headquarters of global companies.

The Place Ville Marie complex was built between 1958 and 1962 by New York developer William Zeckendorf above the trench CN Central Station. The construction of such a large complex in what was a difficult place to showcase was a stroke of genius that helped reorient the development of downtown Montreal

Le complexe de la Place Ville Marie fut construit entre 1958 et 1962 par le promoteur new-yorkais William Zeckendorf au-dessus de la tranchée de la Gare Centrale du CN. La construction d'un aussi vaste complexe dans ce qui était un lieu difficile à mettre en valeur fut un coup de génie qui contribua à réorienter le développement du centre-ville montréalais
